The Sam Nicoll Award:

In 2024, Enable WA was rocked by the sudden passing of one of our Coordinators, Sam Nicoll. Sam was a friend to everyone at Enable, and his passion and love for helping others inspired this award. This Award is focused on the attributes that we all recognised in Sam. These are the qualities of kindness, selflessness, generosity and absolute dedication to people which always went over and above what was required of him.

The first recipient of the Sam Nicoll Award is... Holly Gutteridge!

Holly embodies all that is lovely and good in the world. She always actively listens, she will offer help to anyone, at anytime, for anything she has the ability to assist with. She expresses gratitude, she takes the time to think about people and their feelings, she will always check in to make sure people are okay. She can read the room. She is gentle, patient and humble, all whilst having the ability to relate incredibly well to not only her clients, but her colleagues and others in her orbit.  She works hard to ensure best outcomes for clients and accuracy in her requests to finance. She is not afraid to ask for guidance and receives assistance with gratitude.

Holly is always bright, happy and positive. Never a fuss to take a call or message and goes beyond to try help when she can and if she can.

Holly is a very caring person who will always go that extra mile to help clients & her team members. Holly is always willing to help in any situation & puts her hand up to help, even with things that are not necessarily in her remit. Holly has a bright outlook who portrays a happy no problem attitude towards everyone, no matter how busy she is she will always take the time to check in her colleagues.

Holly is kind. Holly will make the time to acknowledge all those around her, Holly has a positive outlook that lights up the room. Holly is considerate, interested and always supportive. This kindness and engagement extends across all client and peer relationships. Thank you, Holly, for being a positive force in the face of all we do. We love having you around and the way you leave everything you touch a little brighter that it was before.

Julie Stonehouse Award:

This Award is presented in honour of Julie Stonehouse to recognise colleagues who demonstrate the qualities and values which Julie lived and worked by. These are building strong relationships with others, being participant focused in every aspect of their work and being an ultimate team player who supports and collaborates with others.

Congratulations to the first recipient of the Julie Stonehouse Award: Pauline Quinn!

Since Pauline has joined the coordination team in Perth, she has brought a balance of warmth and professionalism to the role and has become an invaluable member of the combined Perth metro team.

She’s often the first to put her hand up for extra work or just to get those little office admin tasks done and has regularly been involved in planning both staff and client events.

She is more often than not seen with a smile on her face and always has time to stop what she’s doing to help others. It’s been a pleasure to work with Pauline where therapy has shared a client with her, regularly showing a willingness to collaborate and problem solve in the best interests of the people we support.

We believe Pauline’s efforts this past year exemplify Enable’s core values and would be a worthy winner of this award.

Every experience and interaction we’ve had with Pauline has been consistently positive and professional. Pauline demonstrates a strong willingness to incorporate feedback and suggestions, particularly those from the administration team, which significantly contributes to smoother operations and supports the coordination team.

Her approachable demeanour and readiness to assist go beyond her own clients; she is always willing to step in and help with the needs of other team members’ clients as well. Pauline is highly responsive, promptly addressing emails and inquiries, and she makes a point of keeping the administration team well-informed of the team’s movements and schedules. This proactive communication fosters better coordination across departments and reflects Pauline’s commitment to collaboration and teamwork. Her dedication to clear, consistent communication and her willingness to go above and beyond make her a valuable asset to the team and a dependable colleague to work alongside.

Pauline is very dedicated to her clients. She is responsive and accurate in any dealings we have with her. In terms of being a team player, from what I have been able to observe, she will always put her hand up to assist her fellow coordinators and will never do a lesser job whilst caretaking her colleagues’ clients. She is encouraging and uplifting in communications. She always strives for the absolute best outcome for her clients and sets extremely high standards for herself. This has been repeatedly demonstrated whilst she has been administering both Perth SDA houses.

Pauline maintains a fierce client centred approach in all her work. Pauline continually considers clients’ needs and keeps them at the forefront of support provision. Pauline will often go above and beyond to ensure the small details that make such a difference are looked at and implemented. This results in better quality of life for those we support.

Congratulations, Pauline!
